Thanks to my boy Colin over at minimize.com I was able to make my website much more visual this weekend.  My hope is that the new home and portfolio pages will make it easier for a site visitor to understand what I’m all about.  It feels good to be able to display some of the work I’ve done over the years to the people who are nice enough to stop by.  Please feel free to leave a comment below if you like any of what you see or if you have any feedback to offer. Recently I entered the Local Motors Pacific Northwest Vehicle Design Competition with the BioDre 2.0 Concept pictured above.  It’s a battery powered plug-in electric SUV with two motors and a bio-diesel range extender/removable generator.  I think the concept is strong, but I’m headed back to the cintiq [drawing board] to work on a more dramatic design.  The competition required that your inspiration come from Earth, Fire, Water and Wind, so I kept mine very specific to the PNW.  My friend Paul McKean’s Neal Creek residence is the place outlined in the background on the far right.  Click on the image to enlarge

Oh man, why do I do this to myself?  I just pulled 2 consecutive all-nighters [with a 45 minute nap] In order to finish my video submission for ReinventTheWheels.com.  It’s a Scion sponsored concept design contest to see who might be selected to make their concept a reality show.  If you have a chance, please check out my YouTube Scion c4 Concept Design video submission [don't worry, it's under 3 minutes] to hear & see where my idea came from.  There are cameos by Jesse Gitter and Owen Roth [kinda looking like he could be ours].  Plus, if you’re quick, you’ll see my cue cards taped to the wall.  [Did I mention I haven't gotten much sleep the past few days]  Finally, I would like to extend a big thank you to my good friend Rob Roth [Owen's dad] for filming such nonsense.

Back in 2oo3, while at New Balance I was chosen to complete the first formal “Blue Sky” project given to an In-Line Designer.  I was able to focus the project on whatever I felt was most relevant for the future of the Cross-Training category without the constraints of our current manufacturing process.  This project was also successfully used to test and advocate for a department-wide Wacom Cintiq monitor purchase, to which I am now a slave.

For approximately the next 30 days, the B!$ will be in the process of moving from Milwaukee, WI [Blizzard Watch in Effect] to Portland, OR. Happy Holidays to all.

It’s taken a while, but I now have a pretty legitimate portion of my portfolio on the site.  Please check the Navigation on the upper left for the new goods.  If you’ve taken the time to visit my coroflot.com portfolio most of this will be old hat, however I’ve now added a DIESEL footwear section.  I imagine this happens with everyone who designs for a living, but finding all of my illustrations has been a daunting task.  That said, I haven’t found most of them.  I think it’s because I’ve moved so many times.  Which reminds me… Packing for Portland 2.0 starts tomorrow.

In the ever evolving landscape that is my portfolio, I have now added a Photography & Illustration section that is a bit short on illustrations.  It’s weird.  I love to draw, but I’m not a doodler and I wouldn’t call myself an artist either.  I get excited to design and usually do so during the day, but I rarely find myself drawing at night, just because the urge is usually out of my system by then.  Also, some of the shots are from Urban Underground, so [if anyone actually follows this] you may recognize them

Ok, so I don’t have what companies would call “an advertising budget”, but I’ve put together an ad for print or the web. Hopefully this will be able to act as an ice breaker when I cold email companies.  The image comes directly from my portfolio in the previous post.

Although I plan to continuously add images to my portfolio, it’s now officially online here at Coroflot.com, which is a major industrial design job search website.  They also have a Design focused partner website called, core77.com if you’re interested.

Over the weekend, I volunteered with a number of dedicated students at the Urban Underground Youth Empowerment Center.  I can confidently say, we’re all looking forward to finishing the new paint job for the first floor soon.  Dave Bowen, [in the grey shirt on the right] has kept everything organized and all of the students have made this project their own.
